With a nod to one of my favourite tales, Red Riding Hood, I ask the question, if one were lost in the forest, are you when surrounded by the best of Mother Nature?
As someone who does live in a forest, I have strayed from the beaten path and been way laid many times. But even in the deep darkest parts of the woods, there’s always a trail worth following.
A dog’s reliable nose. The bubbling stream that runs down hill. Moss mostly grows on the North side of trees. The sunniest side of Gorse grows facing South. Follow deer tracks that furrow through the grass. Fungi that glow white against the midnight mossy green illuminating your path.
Things are never as scary as your imagination. So if your ever feel lost, remember you’re not. It’s just a space outside your comfort zone.
Trust Mother Nature and follow the breadcrumbs, she will lead you home.
